NALA supports Suas in their efforts to improve childen’s literacy

Suas Ireland help children from the most disadvantaged communities in Ireland to improve their literacy skills through one-to-one mentoring and learning materials. They are currently looking for literacy tutors who are interested in volunteering to tutor children in DEIS schools. DEIS is the national programme aimed at addressing the educational needs of children and young people from disadvantaged communities.

The projects are due to begin in Dublin in the coming weeks. Suas provides training to all volunteers in advance.

Volunteering opportunities will be available in:

  • St. Mary’s Primary School, Dorset St. Dublin 7 on Mondays and Wednesdays from 1-2pm
  • St. Laurence O’Toole’s Senior School, Dublin 1 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9.15-10.15am
  • St. Finbarr’s Boys School, Dublin 7 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10-11am
