The National Adult Literacy Agency (NALA) is recruiting an Internal Support Co-ordinator. This is a 12-month position on a fixed-term contract.

Job title: Internal Support Co-ordinator

Responsible to: CEO

Role outline: To develop systems and co-ordinate procedures aimed at increasing NALA's effectiveness and efficiency

Responsible for:

  • Administrative and contract staff for specific work
  • Key working relationships:   CEO, managers, development workers and administrative staff

Key elements

  • Review and update human resources policies and procedures
  • Support NALA staff in terms of their professional development and organise staff development activities
  • Support management in performance management, leave management, recruitment, staff survey and reporting
  • Manage reporting to Charities Regulatory Authority and Standards in Public Office Commission
  • Support NALA to achieve Level 2 PQASSO quality mark and maintain compliance with the Governance Code for Community, Voluntary and Charitable Organisations
  • Act as minute secretary to Board of NALA
  • Manage process for re-engagement with QQI in relation to validation of education programmes
  • Support management in monitoring outcomes from NALA's strategic plan 2017-2019
  • Review compliance with current health and safety legislation and safety statement with Health and Safety Officer
  • Manage customer service issues, customer charter and service action plan and process complaints in line with complaints policy
  • Set up a system for handling Data Protection and Freedom of Information requests

Role requirements

  • Understanding of organisational theories and practices, including evaluation and measurement techniques (Balanced Scorecard)
  • Knowledge of effective HR and training approaches, as well as performance management and development
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Experience of project management and report writing
  • Basic ICT skills

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, organisational and teamwork skills
  • Ability and commitment to work within the aims and values of NALA

Administrative Officer General Service scale ranging – €31,619 to €51,653.

Holiday entitlement

22 days each year

Hours of work

9.30 am – 5.00 pm Monday to Friday 35 hours per week
