Write on for work: Guidelines for web-based basic skills support

These guidelines are for staff who work with adults who need help getting a job and who have gaps in their basic skills, such as numeracy, literacy and digital skills.  They will be particularly useful for Local Development Companies, Local Employment Services and Department of Social Protection staff.

Adults who have gaps in their basic skills or no qualifications are at the greatest risk of becoming long-term unemployed. These guidelines show how NALA’s Distance Learning Service and website www.writeon.ie can help you support someone improve their basic skills and job prospects.

The blended learning approach outlined was tested with Southside Partnership Local Employment Service in the Momentum programme, and the resulting guidelines were launched with the Irish Local Development Network.

NALA can support you to apply the approach within your organisation’s programmes and services, such as staff training.
